Guitar Update
Pooed out at
7:44 pm
Almost finished texturing Kama's guitar. Just need his signature/name to put on the head then I'm ready to rig. While I'm waiting for it I'll probably plan the movement of the balloons and the camera somehow.
You can see the new, more refined colours in the lighting and balloons. I also made the previously black background a very dark green and adjusted the main lights to help the guitar stand out as before it was lost in the backdrop due to its darkness.
Tried to get a shot of the right hand balloons but Maya kept crashing when I tried...

My fox logo has been uploaded to the Facebook page for just over an hour and already has 43 likes :)
Here's two more of my Caerleon project models.
First up is the generic celt man. He's real low poly so looks a bit blocky. This was in the hope that the engine will run a bit more smoothly with less polys to process.
To add variation the character will be textured with a variety of different clothes and hair colours and the moustache and ponytail can be shortened or removed completely. Hopefully he will fit with the higher poly characters but he isn't that important so should be all good.

My logo submission for the Facebook group to keep fox hunting banned. Hopefully it will be on the page soon (http://www.facebook.com/pages/KEEP-FOX-HUNTING-BANNED/308115089034#!/pages/KEEP-FOX-HUNTING-BANNED/308115089034?ref=ts).
Voting starts on April the first so join the group (it's a great cause) and vote for my design :D all you have to do is find it in the photo album and comment "Vote" under it. Or make one yourself!
The design itself didn't take too long. My favourite colour palette is dark leaf green, orange and pale pink and the first two obviously ended up in the finished piece. I think it works well as a logo but I could have spent more time on it. We shall have to see.
Well that's one thing ticked of the list haha. Didn't get round to doing any Dale work, maybe tomorrow...
Don't forget to join and voteBYE.

A shit picture to make up for all the words. Especially all the probablys, possiblys and maybes. Had quite a nice arrangement of subtly coloured squares using the redesigned colour and lighting palette for Kama's guitar and decided it needed ruining.

Got quite a bit on the go at the moment.
The Caerleon project character modelling is going well, got 2 or 3 more to do and to redo Bran's head.
Not sure what I'll be doing on the project once I've finished modelling but I'm sure there'll be plenty to get done.
Kama's guitar is also going really well. I'm going to get as much done for it as possible this week as I won't be able to do much over Easter. 5 more things to do on it, they are:
1) Add Kama's name/signature to the head of the guitar.
2) Add the music style names to the balloons.
3) Resize the balloon strings.
4) Combine the model and rig it.
5) Animate the balloons and Camera.
Don't know if we're going to do the Dorito's advert. I'd like to as I have quite a good idea for it and would also like £200,000. Deadline for that is the end of April I think.
Lanny has asked me to draw his EP cover. He wants a David Firth (http://www.fat-pie.com/) style drawing of a man with a cat for a beard :D I'd love to do it and hope some time frees up for me to be able to.
Joined a group on Facebook called Keep Fox Hunting Banned. There's a competition on there to design a logo for the Fox Trust Foundation. Might give it a go. Deadline is April the first.
Had a great idea whilst having a shit the other day (sparked by the background of David Firth's feature film blog). I won't tell you what it is because it's quite abstract and hard to explain and I don't want you to know. Just thinking about how it could be implemented. Not really suitable for a game. Maybe a mixed media animation/film.
Looking to get a PC soon so I can work with Maya etc properly. Hopefully it will mean that over the summer I can have a go at making a game, possibly in Unity. I've got an idea about a crocodile that I'm building on. It'll have to be a very basic game if it's just me though.
Pete's talking about doing a mod at some point so I might/probably will join him on that. He's got a mate who did the Games Development and AI course (our sister) so should be good. Pete's trying to get me brainstorming but as you can see I've got a lot on!
I've also been developing ideas for a short animation called Dale (working title) that I want to do at some point. It started life as a character doodle I drew during one of our Games and Animation Studies lectures. Dale, the character, is based on a bus driver we had at secondary school and I'm thinking about doing a short 3D animation about a portion his life, complete with scummy westcountry accented monologue. I think I will give him a love interest based on someone I used to work with at Sainsbury's.
Going to do some drawings (possibly some storyboards) tonight and pin down the story, sequence of events and maybe some of the script so may have some pictures to post soon.
I've got Super Ninjas From Hell to work on with Steve at some point (over summer perhaps).
So far we have the title.
Also got my Sagat vs Guile pictures to get to work on.
Finally I was reading a college friend of mine's magazine website (http://www.attnmagazine.co.uk/). It's really cool and was thinking, as anyone can contribute, that I might have a go at writing something, probably games based, for it.
Bugger I'm going to be busy haha.
Thanks for reading this if you have.

FIGHT!

Two very basic preliminary sketches (but quite good for me), the first of Guile and the second of Sagat, two of my favourite Street Fighter characters (not to play as really) doing some cool moves. Hopefully going to work on them and then have a third of Guile and his Sonic Boom meeting Sagat and his Tiger Shot. The Sagat picture will probably be flipped so he is facing right.

I think that if there is a third Modern Warfare game (fingers and all crossed) that some of the time will be spent playing as the US in a counter-attack against the russians and the rest will be as Soap and Price on the run. Hope so!
It'll be interesting to see what Sledgehammer do with the series.

Guitar banner for Kama
Pooed out at
3:49 pm
I've been working on a website banner for my friend Kama's website to promote his music, gigs and guitar lessons.
Above is a Work In Progress of the Maya model I've been making. The six balloon type things coming from the guitar strings will illustrate the types of music he specialises in: metal, rock, folk, jazz, acoustic and classical.
If all goes to plan the banner will be an animated flyround of the guitar head showing all the balls moving and the music they represent. If animation isn't possible it can be used as a still image.
Next I need to texture the guitar properly, pin down the colours of the balls and rig and animate them so it looks like they're floating around.
Very pleased with the guitar model. Hope he likes it :D
Hopefully have some more stuff from the Caerleon project up soon. BYE.
